February 4, 2015 (Houston, TX) - Team members of Capstone Associated Services, Ltd. have just returned to their Houston offices from their January meetings in Anguilla. Attending the meetings on Capstone's behalf were Megan M. Brooks, financial risk manager and Valerie Garcia, senior administrator, along with Stewart A. Feldman, Capstone's CEO and general counsel. Anguilla is located in the British Overseas Territory of Anguilla and is ultimately governed by the United Kingdom.
The meetings included sessions with Anguilla’s Governor, Her Excellency Christina Scott, where financial services/captive insurance issues were discussed. Financial services is a mainstay of Anguilla's economy.
Capstone continues as one of the largest sponsors of captive insurance companies domiciled in the Territory, having begun its Anguilla operations in 2009. Capstone Insurance Management (Anguilla), Ltd., a subsidiary of Capstone, maintains a staffed office in The Valley, Anguilla, run by Fiona Curtis, MBA, who serves as resident manager.
Capstone's Anguilla meetings also included extended discussions with the staff of the Anguilla Financial Services Commission, addressing regulatory issues of Capstone's clients. The extended meeting included Gerry Halishuk, who became the AFSC's head in 2014, along with Lavie Hobson, head of insurance supervision, and regulators Charo Richardson and Glyne Buchanan.

In addition to the important discussions with Governor Scott and the Anguilla Financial Services Commission, the Capstone team also met separately with Ms. Curtis to negotiate and bind almost 700 individual insurance policies covering several thousand insureds for 2015 coverages, all on behalf of Capstone's captive clients. The next set of in-person meetings is set for mid-year.
