Capstone Announces New Vice President of Operations

Capstone’s President Earls Retires After 20 Years of Service

November 12, 2018 (Houston, TX) – Capstone Associated Services, Ltd. is pleased to announce the addition of Daniel Calderon as Vice President - Operations. Mr. Calderon moves into this leadership role as Jeff Carlson, who had served in this role since November 2017, transitions to President.

Mr. Calderon brings over 20 years of strategic & operational planning, customer relationship management, and process improvement experience to Capstone. In his role as VP - Operations, Mr. Calderon provides oversight of insurance, accounting, compliance, and risk management. Mr. Calderon also works closely with Capstone’s affiliated law firm -- The Feldman Law Firm LLP – along with others to ensure a seamless experience for clients.

“Daniel’s focus and diligence on operations and processes help ensure that all clients’ captives remain in compliance with applicable laws and regulations,” said Jeff Carlson. “His work also ensures that internal processes continue to reflect excellence in alternative risk / captive planning, as we’ve demonstrated over the past 20 years. We’re excited to have Daniel on board.”

Prior to his arrival at Capstone in September 2018, Mr. Calderon served as a Director at AIG American General where the team he led managed compensation for a national independent agent field force. He also authorized the hiring of independent agents for the company’s portfolio of financial products.

Additionally, Mr. Calderon served as Vice President of Client Services and Agency Services at National Western Life Insurance Company (NWLIC). In this role, he oversaw both policyholder and agent customer service departments, as well as both domestic and international agent onboarding & commission activities.

“What drew me to Capstone was its unwavering commitment to its captive clients,” said Mr. Calderon. “Capstone has adapted and improved over the decades and is always seeking ways to better serve its clients. Capstone offers a true captive turnkey solution where clients have oversight over the planning, which is integral to their success. As part of Capstone’s leadership team, I am excited about the role and ensuring that the insurance, tax, legal, accounting, and other facets of the planning are met in the months and years ahead.”

Mr. Calderon moves into Jeff Carlson’s role, while Carlson assumes Capstone’s presidency. Charles B. Earls, III, Capstone’s founding President who served in this role for over 20 years, becomes a senior advisor.

“In 1998 (its first year in operation), Capstone formed and operated a small number of captives for manufacturers, a distributor, and a real estate developer,” said Mr. Earls. “Over these past 20 years, our company has taken the lead in forming and managing 200 captives. Since its inception, Capstone has dealt with a diverse client base spread across the country, encompassing healthcare, construction, distribution, service, defense, tech, hospitality, energy, trucking, and agri-business, among other industry sectors. I’m very proud of the work Capstone, together with The Feldman Law Firm LLP have done in serving our clients over the past two decades. As I step aside to take on new challenges, I feel confident that Capstone will continue to be in good hands.”
